Romantic Maui Weddings
Your Wedding Planner

Introduction

Aloha!

Since 1988 we have helped over 6,500 couples fulfill their wedding dreams. Weddings in Maui have become very popular because of our changing times. Maui weddings are relatively inexpensive and at the same time, there is truly no place in the world as gorgeous or appropriate for such a spiritual occasion.

Maui is the perfect place to have a wedding or renew your wedding vows. Whether it is just the two of you or a traditional wedding party, nothing compares to the incredible ocean views, warm sand, sunsets, rainbows, palm trees and mountains! Most ceremonies and receptions take place outdoors, and rarely is the weather less than perfect.

Your wedding can be formal or informal. Many couples choose the casual beach setting at sunset or in the morning when the water is aqua blue. Others prefer a garden setting and formal attire. There are no rules or restrictions with island weddings, and that is the most wonderful part of the whole concept.

Fortunately , the success of a Maui wedding does not depend on a limitless budget. Instead, it is the careful planning and thoughtful organisation that creates your "perfect wedding". Often our couples find that it is much less costly to have their wedding here on Maui and definitely much easier. Every couple should determine their priorities and make a realistic decision on what they would like to have, what they want to do and how much they can afford to spend.

The following information is designed to take you through the step by step planning. We realise that it would be difficult for you to make the arrangements from where you are. That is why we are here. We can make all the arrangements for you. Once you decide what you want and let us know, all you have to do is relax, have a great time, and enjoy your wedding.

Rather than having set packages, we personally tailor the wedding arrangements to fit your dreams and ideas. We will begin by discussing the plans with you by phone or email, and everything will be set before you arrive. Once you are here on our island paradise, you will meet with us to go over all of the details one last time to make sure everything is exactly the way you want it. You will meet with the marriage license agent on the same day. It is as simple as that!

Please read the following information thoroughly. Congratulations on your choice to be married in paradise! We look forward to helping you with your wedding plans!

How To Plan Your
Romantic Maui Wedding

Decide on a date...

If you are going to be visiting Maui for your wedding and maybe bringing a few guests, it is a good idea to start planning no later than 3 to 4 months in advance, if possible. This way you have a better chance of reserving the location you want, and we will have a better chance of getting you the finest minister and photographer available. If you make your wedding plans at the last minute, you may not be able to be as selective. You should allow 2 days to get to Maui and recover from the trip. There is a time change to adjust to and you will need to get your Marriage License. We recommend that you wait at least until your 3rd day here to have your wedding.

If you will be inviting a large number of guests, whether you will be visiting or you live in Maui, you will want to start your plans at least 6 months in advance.

But, if you are one of those last minute planners that we sometimes get, we will do our very best to accommodate you. It helps if you are a little flexible with the date so we can try to get you the best professionals for your wedding.

Choose the time of day...

The time you select for your ceremony is very important. Morning weddings are wonderful. Early in the day, the beaches are not crowded. The light is perfect for photography and it is also the coolest time. You might want to start by 8:00 or 8:30 A.M. This is so we can avoid the beach goers. Most couples will go to breakfast or brunch after their morning wedding. They will then have the rest of the day to spend together. With more private locations becoming available, we are now able to do late morning and early afternoon weddings as well.

Sunset weddings, of course, are also a beautiful! Maui's sunsets are the best in the world. Most beach goers have called it a day, so this gives you more privacy. You will want to allow about one hour to an hour and a half for the complete wedding, depending on how much photography or video coverage you desire. This way there is enough light to get great photos of the ceremony. The time will go by very quickly.

If you are planning a reception you will, of course, need to allow a few hours for that as well. There will be more information about receptions later.

Once we know exactly what your wedding plans are we can help you select the time you will need to start. We have a sunset chart in our office and we can guide you if you would like.

Airfare and Accommodations...

You will want to find a Travel Agent that is familiar with Hawaii. If you plan ahead, you can get great bargains, especially in airfare. If you would like a Travel Agent that lives on Maui and knows the island well, we can refer you to someone here.

On Maui there are hotels, condominiums, lodges, bed and breakfasts, and even camp grounds available. The accommodation rates change with the seasons. No matter where you stay, if it is your first visit to Maui, try to get an ocean view if you can afford one. Nothing compares. Be careful because there is a difference between ocean side and ocean view. Most of the Hotels and Condos in Maui are located near or on the ocean and we really do have some first class accommodations here.

Guests...

Today more and more couples are bringing larger groups of family and friends to join them in their wedding celebration. If you would like to send your guests invitations, there are many tropical ones available at your local stationery or bridal store. If you are good on your computer you might even create your own special one. Often our couples do.

On the other hand some couples choose destination weddings to get away from the hassle of dealing with a large wedding. You may want to keep it small and intimate. Whatever your wishes are, we will help you make them happen!

Wedding Consultant...

Definition:

Wedding Consultant - An expert who is called on for special advice or services pertaining to weddings.

Expert - Having much special knowledge and experience in some particular field.

A Wedding Consultant is a very important consideration. There are many in the Islands and their services vary greatly. It is important that you work with someone you feel you can trust. A wedding consultant can also get you the best value for your dollar.

We have many years of experience and our years of experience can save you an unfortunate one. As we do business with most of the wedding service providers available on a daily basis, we are familiar with who is reliable, responsible and easy to work with. We will make all the arrangements for you and all you have to make is one call to us. We do have our favorites and we all work well together because we are together almost every day. We will also confirm everyone the day of the wedding and take care of any last minute problems that could arise. This frees you to relax and enjoy this special time.

Having a consultant present at your ceremony will give you the benefit of having a friend, bridesmaid and sometimes a witness if there are no guests. It is a true luxury to have someone there to coordinate everything for you. It is our belief that nothing but the best is good enough for your special day. We love what we do and we do it well. We plan every wedding and reception as if it were our own, paying special attention to every detail.

We will be glad to help you with other things including dinner arrangements, beauty shop appointments, sightseeing, activities, luaus and car rentals. We work closely with a travel agent here on Maui that can also help you with your travel plans if needed. You can email her through our web site under Travel and Accommodations.

You can call us anytime. We try to be in the office as much as possible. However, since one of us personally attends each of our weddings it is difficult to maintain exact hours. The best time to be sure to reach us is early morning Hawaii time. Remember, there is a time difference. We are 6 hours earlier than Eastern Time Zone, 5 hours earlier than Central, 4 hours earlier than Mountain, and 3 hours earlier than Pacific.

If we are not in the office, please leave your name, area code, phone number, and a brief message on our friendly answering machine. Whenever you contact us please refer to your wedding date and the Groom's last name. That is how we organize our files.

Wedding Location...

You should decide on the location of your choice in the beginning stages of planning so that we can inform all of your wedding specialists where the wedding will take place. Just about any place that you select to be married in Maui will be breath-takingly beautiful. Some locations have better weather and more privacy than others.

You do not want to select a location that is difficult to get to. It is nice to be close to your hotel or to your reception site if you are planning one. You can choose from locations such as beaches, gardens, gazebos, private homes, yachts, hotels, chapels, parks, golf clubs, etc....

All of Maui's beaches and most parks are free to use, so this is one area you can save money on if you are on a tight budget. It is better to choose an inexpensive wedding site than to fore-go having photography, for example. We do not recommend taking large groups to a beach but it is legal to do so. You will not want to take anyone too elderly to the beach as there is no place for them to sit down and some beach accesses do have steps.

The hotels have fees for the use of their grounds and the fees do vary greatly. When using a hotel for your site, any cake, food or beverage, etc.... must be purchased through them. This makes it a little more expensive. You will want to reserve your wedding or reception site a few months in advance, especially if you will be sending out invitations. Some condominiums have wonderful grounds. If you are a guest, most times they will allow you to use the grounds at no charge. You will need to get permission to use the grounds from the manager.

Private homes are becoming very popular here because most couples want privacy. Most are reasonably priced and offer both a view and a place to have a reception as well. Catering is always less expensive done privately versus a hotel.

If you need help with selecting a location you can find many in our web site. You will find a list of locations with descriptions and prices at the end of this booklet. You will also see a location video listed at the end of the location information. If you still need help in choosing your wedding location, just give our office a call and we will be glad to give you our advice. If all that fails you are welcome to come to Maui for what we call a preview. You can meet with us and view whatever locations you might be interested in. If you wish you can purchase your wedding gown while you are here and then you will not have to carry it on the plane or mail it ahead.

Marriage License...

Hawaii has NO RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS or WAITING PERIOD. If you are 19 years old or younger, please bring your Birth Certificate with you. PROOF of final divorce is not required unless it was granted less than 60 days prior to your wedding date. You will be asked detailed information regarding this, so you will need to know the County and State in which the divorce occurred, and the Month and Year it was final. If you were divorced in the 60 days prior to your wedding date, Proof of Finalization stating where and when will be required.

At this time, NO BLOOD TEST IS REQUIRED FOR THE BRIDE OR GROOM. This may change if a test for Aids is instituted. Once your wedding is reserved with us we will let you know of any changes that occur.

You should obtain a Marriage License Packet which includes complete information and a License Application Form, by writing to:

STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
MARRIAGE LICENSE SECTION
P.O. BOX 3378
HONOLULU, HAWAII 96801

You can fill this out at home, but PLEASE USE BLACK INK, PRINT NEATLY, FILL IN COMPLETE NAMES (no initials) and DO NOT SIGN. You will sign this in front of the Licensing Agent. DO NOT TYPE THIS FORM, IT MUST BE HAND PRINTED! Bring this form with you to Maui. You may want to carry it on the plane just in case your luggage gets misplaced.

We will prearrange an appointment for you to get the actual license once you are here on Maui. We will make sure you have directions by sending you a map or giving it to you when we meet. Both the BRIDE and GROOM must be present for this meeting. If you have any questions, please contact us. The fee for the license at this time is $65.00. You will pay the Licensing Agent direct. They will not take credit cards so be prepared.

Ministers...

Romantic Maui Weddings will arrange for a minister that we feel will best suit your preferences. Most couples prefer a non-denominational service with a Hawaiian flair. We have heard many and we do have our favorites, so you can be assured of a lovely ceremony.

There are many ministers in Maui. They come in all denominations and there are women as well as men. There are also State Officiants available. They are not actual ministers. They are just licensed by the State to perform marriage ceremonies. Some couples have special vows or verses that they like to include. This is usually not a problem. Please send them to us in advance if possible. Once we have reserved your minister we will be happy to send you a copy of their ceremony if you request one.

There are also ministers that can do the ceremony in Japanese and German as well. At this time, there is one Rabbi on Maui. One can also be flown in from Oahu or the Big Island. We do have a couple of officiants that do a real nice Jewish ceremony and they will incorporate the usual traditions as well. There are several Catholic priests available but Catholic weddings must be held in a Catholic Church. The couple is required to complete the Precana classes before arriving in Hawaii. Once we are in the planning stages we will be happy to send you the contact information that you will need.

Most ministers and officiants will travel to any part of the island, if necessary. Some will charge if it is a long distance. Some dress very casual and some wear robes. Traditionally, there is a Hawaiian prayer and a lei exchange incorporated into the ceremony.

If you have a preference when it comes to the minister, just let us know on your wedding checklist that is enclosed. We, here at Romantic Maui Weddings, will do our best to match you up with the best person to fit your needs!

Our Basic Wedding or Vow Renewal Plan...

Our basic wedding plan includes our arrangement services, assistance with licensing procedures, when necessary, and with location selection. Also included are our consulting fees, the ministers fee, two witnesses if needed, two Aloha leis, a free Just Mauied wedding announcement in our web page for your friends and family, a decorative wedding certificate, and your own wedding consultant present at the ceremony. For beach weddings or small garden weddings for 10 or less people, the fee is $389.00. For weddings with 11 to 30 it is $489 and for 31 or more the fee is $589.00.

Due to strict liquor laws we are not allowed to sell or give you Champagne. You may however provide your own if you are using a private location. No alcohol can be served at the public beaches.

The following information contains many of the options you might want to choose to make this special day a success and an experience you will never want to forget!

Photography...

The following is a list of some of the photography you will want to include: wedding portraits, the ceremony, ring exchange, lei exchange, toast, cake cutting, license signing, beach strolls, limousine arrival or departure, garter, family photos, sunset and even a "Just Maui'd" heart in the sand. Keep in mind that the scenery is incredible and you will not want to limit the photographer too much. We also like to be able to capture a few candid moments and emotional moments as well. We use both styles of photography when we record your wedding. Traditional and Photo Journalistic if your package allows for it.

Most packages are designed for couples who visit our island and are intended to cover small, intimate ceremonies and create fine portraits. Larger, more in-depth coverage is available for traditional large weddings or receptions. When we know your plans we can help you with this selection.

Digital photography is the most popular wedding photography because of its versatility. It can be printed in color, black and white, or sepia. It also has the advantage of being digitally manipulated by computer. All of our photography packages are shot with high resolution digital cameras. Anywhere from 8 to 14 megapixel cameras are being used at this time. You will be able to show your friends and family your wedding photos by computer in very few days. Our photographers shoot with the latest technology available and you will be given a disc with high resolution photos that can be printed when you arrive home. You will also be given thumbnail sheets for easy viewing. For an additional charge we will provide you with a complete album of 4x6 or 5x7 color photos as well. The photographer chooses the best images for your prints. This enables you to have an album for viewing right away!

Videography...

It has become standard procedure for couples to include professional video services in their weddings. A video makes it possible to relive, forever, the sights, sounds, excitement, and joy you will experience on your wedding day. It is also the best way to share this special occasion with family and friends who are unable to attend in person.

This will probably be the only time in your lives that you will be featured in your own professionally produced video, so be sure to have it done right.

The video production companies we employ are active in a wide variety of production work ranging from television commercials, news coverage and sporting events, to convention group entertainment and special event programs. The same technical expertise and quality equipment used in these productions are utilized in our wedding videos. This guarantees you the sharpest picture possible.

Professional camera operators understand the appropriate framing, composition, angles and camera moves for each scene. These shots are then creatively edited together with music and the live recorded audio to become a smooth, flowing, very entertaining video remembrance of your wedding day.

Copies from the master are $30.00 if ordered in advance. PAL conversion is available also.

We look forward to producing for your enjoyment, the best, most reasonably priced wedding video available anywhere. Reserve early to be sure the best is available for your wedding day.

Flowers...

Flowers definitely add beauty, fragrance and distinction to weddings. They are very important for quality photography and video. The bride should have a bouquet and the groom a boutonniere, if he is wearing a jacket. You will definitely want to have leis for a lei exchange, which is traditional for a wedding in Hawaii. Romantic Maui Weddings does include two in our Basic Wedding Plan for you! They are Tuberose and have a small corsage incorporated into them.

The Haku is a head piece handwoven of greens and flowers. It can be light or heavy and it is worn like a crown. A veil or streamers can be attached if you like. It really adds a Hawaiian touch to any wedding. Remember, if you decide to wear a hair flower, it should be placed over the left ear. In Hawaii, this means you are spoken for. It is also the side that is photographed the most.

The Maile lei is an open lei woven from Maile leaves. It is quite long and adds a great deal of Hawaiian flair to any wedding. It is green in color and can also be entwined with flowers. The Maile leis is great to take home for a keepsake.

Many wonderful flowers are available in Hawaii. The most popular are Orchids, Gardenias, Tuberose and Pikake. Most all of the standard flowers are available as well. Maui's flower is actually the Pink Rose. The two flowers that are next to impossible to get here are Lilies of the Valley and Peonies. Be sure to include flowers for your attendants. Leis make a nice gift for quests as well. Romantic Maui Weddings will have your flowers waiting for you when you arrive at your wedding site.

Below are flower prices and some photos that will show you some of the different styles.

Music...

Romantic Maui Weddings would be happy to arrange for a talented soloist (guitar) to bring the gift of music to your ceremony. Normally each wedding encompasses three songs for $150 per musician. The Hawaiian Wedding Song is a must if you are getting married in Hawaii! It is usually a good idea to let your musician play what is appropriate for a Maui wedding. Most are willing to take whatever requests you make if they know them.

When you want to add a real touch of class we can arrange for a Harpist or even a Pianist to play beautiful, romantic, background music for your wedding. Also available are the flute, violin, cello, and even a bagpipe on occasion. The fee is $175 for a harp, violin, flute or cello.

You might also like to have a Hula Dancer perform for you along with the musician. This is getting to be very popular here. The fee for a musician and dancer is $300.

Also available are Conch Shell Blowers and Torch Bearers if you really want to go Hawaiian style. The fee for each is $75.00. Sometimes if you reserve early we can get the Torch Bearers to also blow the Conch Shell for you at no charge.

If you have a special selection of music, please send us the sheet music and a cassette and our musicians will be glad to learn it for an extra charge of $50. Song availability depends on which musician is available, so you need to reserve early.

For a reception you can plan on $150 per musician per hour. Disc Jockeys are available but are often as expensive as live musicians. We often have a trio and dancing at some of the private homes or resorts we use. You will want to stay with the theme of your wedding when choosing which musicians you may like to have. In other words, if you use a Hawaiian Guitarist you might do a Hawaiian Trio for a Luau reception. Hula Dancers would be $150 each. On occasion, we have also had a String Quartet or Steel Drum Band.

Music is always a nice touch to add to your wedding in Maui! We have been working with most of the musicians here for over 17 years and they love what they do. If you are planning to have a video of your wedding, it can really add a lot to the entrance you will make. Many of our couples even dance to the last song at the end of the ceremony.

Limousine Service...

Our Limousines are 7-passenger, white, late-model stretch Lincolns and Cadillacs, equipped with every amenity available. We proudly feature two of the longest cars on the island. All Limos are kept spotless and in perfect working order. We require all drivers to wear a suit or tuxedo. They are non-smokers, polite, and professionally trained. It is truly a first class way to travel. A RED CARPET is physically rolled out for every client! So why not arrive in style on your special day. We love to pamper!

Of course you want to reserve early to get the best cars and the lowest rates. Rates are approximately $125.00 per hour with a 2 hour minimum. The limo companies here usually charge from the time they leave their garage so that means an additional 1/2 hour charge if you are on the West side of Maui. Our weddings are about 1 and 1/2 hours long so you are only in the limousine for the travel time. If your driver does a good job we would encourage you to tip an additional 15%.

Some couples like to be picked up after the wedding, do a 1 and 1/2 hour sunset cruise, and be dropped off for dinner afterwards. This allows them to have more time in the Limo. On the other hand it is nice to have the Limousine arrival on your wedding video. If you are having Tableside Chef at the beach it is possible to do 2 rides to save a little money.

Also available are the Classy Taxis (featuring a 1929 Model A Ford Phaeton Limo). In some areas it is possible to have a horse and carriage.

Attire for the Bride...

There are places to buy or rent a gown in Hawaii but your time is valuable while visiting and you do not want to spend it shopping or rushing around. If you wish to find your attire after you arrive you should allow a few extra days before the wedding. You might need alterations as well. If you come to Maui for a preview you could also purchase your gown at that time and leave it with the shop until you return.

If you wish to wear the traditional holoku, you can get a pattern and have it made at home or you can have it made in Hawaii. You will have to send your measurements to the seamstress ahead of time and then have a fitting after you arrive. If you are getting married on grass or the beach, please be sure to shorten your dress appropriately. Your dress should not touch the ground if you are in bare feet. If it is difficult for you to walk because you are tripping on your dress you will be miserable. We have wedding slippers in our site that can help you from sinking in the sand.

If you should need to have your gown steamed on arrival, that is not a problem. However, when you board your plane to Hawaii, ask the flight attendant to hang your gown. They are very helpful. (Some airlines have been known to donate a bottle of champagne to the couple as a token of "aloha spirit") .

We will be happy to steam your gown for you at a cost of $25 per hour. Please be sure there is no label inside that says "Do Not Steam". If you wish to send your dress ahead, please send it UPS or FED-EX with a tracking to Sandy Barker at 708 Noweo Place, Wailuku, Hawaii, 96793. Roll your dress! Do not fold it. Put a note on the outside asking us to open and steam the dress. You will also need to enclose a note that states you will not hold us responsible for any damage or dirt that is already on the dress when it arrives. If you bring the dress to Maui and it needs steaming, please bring it to us when we have our meeting. You will usually have to leave it for 1 day.

If needed there are Dry Cleaners here but you do need a couple of days to get the dress done and it is quite expensive.

Attire for Men...

Many couples choose casual attire. In Hawaii, you can wear just about anything you desire to your wedding (it is suggested that you get your prospective bride's approval before the wedding). Some couples even choose to shop for matching casual wear after they arrive. If you choose to go with formal wear, your tuxedo can be waiting for you when you arrive. You can find our online brochure and order form at http://www.justmauied.com/style.html.

Keep in mind that Hawaii has a warm climate. As the sun is setting, it does get cooler. There are usually balmy breezes near the beach. Most of the time, men are comfortable in a tuxedo. It's the nervous moment that really makes them warm. The formal attire for the bride and groom makes a wonderful contrast for the beach locations.

We will need to have your measurements here no later than three weeks before the wedding. If there are a problems, please phone or fax them to us. Please have men measured by an experienced person (at your local formal wear store) or if he has a suit that fits well, measure him in that, (following the directions on the back of the tuxedo sheet). Please fill in all sizes to avoid delay. If the measurements are not done correctly there will be a charge of $5.00 per sleeve or cuff for alterations.

If you are not sure of the style, send us a clipping (from a magazine like Brides) or a handout from your local tuxedo shop, showing what you like. We will get a tuxedo that is as close as possible, if not exactly the same. It does not help to send stock numbers or names, as these vary from store to store. If the bride is wearing an off white dress, be sure to order an ivory (not white) shirt.

A regular tuxedo rents for $130.00. Tails are $140.00. If you order a designer vest there is an additional charge of $20.00. There is an extra charge of $10.00 for a banded collar shirt which comes with a button cover. Everything is included with the tuxedo except the socks. There is an additional charge for special shoes. The tuxedos must be returned the day after use by 12:00 noon or there will be an additional charge. Receptions...

In Maui, things are a little different when it comes to the reception. Because often there is only the couple or maybe a few of their close friends or relatives, it is usually kept simple. This provides quite a savings in comparison to the traditional wedding at home.

Often couples choose to have a cake or champagne (ginger ale) at the wedding site so that they can have the traditional cake cutting and champagne toast photographed. There is usually a grassy area near the beach to place a cake table or we are able to set it up on the beach. At private locations we can use champagne. At the beach we must use ginger ale or sparkling cider. No alcohol is allowed on the beach. For your champagne or ginger ale, we will, of course, provide an ice bucket and toast glasses for the smaller groups. If you decide to have a cake, a fresh flower top is the way to go. Romantic Maui Weddings will provide a knife, plates, napkins, forks and service.

After the wedding, most couples will go to any of the hundreds of restaurants available for dinner. Maui has many fine restaurants, both in and out of the hotels. Your budget would be the major concern. However, be sure to plan something special for the evening. We can both guide you, and make reservations for you if you wish. Most of Maui's restaurants have their menus up on the internet. Beachside Chefs is also a great dinner experience and is listed under specialties.

For the larger wedding receptions, the use of a hotel or a private home is the best option. There are a few private places that you can have catering at, and even a private luau if you wish. Prices will vary greatly. The bar can be the most expensive part of the wedding reception. Many couples keep the cost down by just doing beer and wine. You will need to purchase your own alcohol for private receptions. When using a Hotel all food and beverages must be purchased through them. This can be very costly.

If you decide to use a private home it will be necessary to rent tables, chairs, and linen. We do have all rental and reception prices in our web page or call us for a quote. Many menus are available in the web site listed under Receptions. Romantic Maui Weddings also offers Rehearsal Dinners and Beach Parties. We are however not allowed to bring alcohol to the beach. See our web site for more reception information. Please keep in mind that we will not do a reception if you are working with a different wedding company.

Sound Advice...

When you arrive in Hawaii, you will probably be ready to run right out and get a suntan. Even though the weather here does not feel that hot, the sun can do a lot of damage in a short time. You do not want to get a burn before the wedding. It will definitely show in your photographs and you will be most uncomfortable, maybe even sick. Please use lots of sunscreen and you will have a wonderful time and go back with a tan.

Maui has many wonderful and beautiful waterfalls. Most of these are only accessible by hiking. At the bottom of the larger ones there is a mist in the air, so no cameras can be taken close. A waterfall is not the best location for a wedding. Many resorts have beautiful man-made waterfalls that do photograph well. Save the large waterfalls for a wonderful hiking experience.

Do not consider having taped music at your wedding site out-of-doors. There are too many wonderful natural sounds to enjoy. It really subtracts from the quality of your island wedding experience and we do not recommend it. It is fine to bring your favorite music on cassette or CD for the videographer to lay over your wedding video. They will be happy to work with you on that.

If you are planning a sunset wedding, you will not want to try to make one of the islands popular luau shows the same night. Maui weddings start at about the same time the Luaus start. You may however plan an earlier wedding by reserving a private location or more remote beach to use for your ceremony. Either way we recommend that you definitely attend a luau while you are here. There are several available and it is an experience you will want to take home with you. Maui has a lot of wonderful talent and the aloha spirit is very much alive here. We can make your luau reservations for you if you desire. Just give us the date you would like and number of people. We do need to have your credit card information to make the reservation for you.

Maui does have its own locally made champagne. It's made in Maui and is available throughout the State. Maui Brut is a little pink in color and tastes great. You may want to try it just for fun.

In most cases, you will take your photos home with you.If you are planning to have a reception when you return home, please allow enough time for the delivery of your photos and video. A video can take from 2 to 3 weeks to arrive. So, please plan on this!

Once you have made your decisions, you should feel comfortable and have confidence in us. Now it is time to relax and enjoy this incredible, romantic and once in a lifetime experience. It does not get any better!

To Reserve Your Wedding Date...

To Reserve Your Wedding Date...

Romantic Maui Weddings would love to help you with your wedding plans. The first thing we require is a call to discuss the date and time. Then we require the completed reservation form and a non-refundable deposit of $100.00 in the form of a CHECK to confirm your wedding date and begin planning. This deposit will be applied toward your wedding. 50% of the balance on your wedding will be due by check when you receive your estimate for your wedding about 30 days before your arrival. You may pay the entire balance by check at that time if you wish. If you add or change anything after that, we will make the adjustment when you arrive. All checks should be sent to Romantic Maui Weddings, P.O. Box 1827, Wailuku, HI, 96793.

Due to the high cost of credit cards (interest rates and merchant fees etc…), rather than raise our prices, we prefer not to take credit cards. Any balance and last minute changes or additions will need to be paid with Travelers Checks or Cash. If it is necessary to use a credit card there will be a service fee of 5%. We will only accept Visa or Master Card in this instance. No personal checks can be accepted after you arrive.

An additional $500 non-refundable deposit is required if you are planning any and all privately catered receptions. We do not recommend waiting until last minute to make these plans.

Hawaii State Excise Tax will be added to the total and prices are subject to change. DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE! ALL CANCELLATIONS MUST BE IN WRITING and must be at least 30 days prior to your wedding date! If you cancel later than 30 days before the wedding, 50% of your balance will be due and charged to you. Romantic Maui Weddings can only be responsible for vendors that we contract to do your wedding.

Be sure to include a credit card number, expiration date and name on the card. This will be for any limousine, restaurant or activity reservations you might require. Once you decide what options you would like to include for your special day fax or mail us a copy of your checklist that is also enclosed for your convenience. You can make changes in this checklist up until 10 days prior to your wedding. After that, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to make any changes or additions. If changes are made at such a late date there may be a fee. Because we work with so many vendors all prices are subject to change.

If you have an emergency and you need to change your wedding date, we will be happy to accommodate you. However, there will be an additional charge of $100.
